David Hurlburt is Director of Special Projects & Group Initiatives for Hearst Television. He manages group-wide initiatives and projects, including Forecasting Our Future, Project CommUNITY, and Hearst's 'Commitment' initiative for political coverage. David also has corporate oversight of Hearst TV's National Investigative and Consumer units, and the Washington News Bureau.

David joined Hearst Television in 1998 as a producer at WPTZ, before moving to WMUR and then to WCVB NewsCenter 5, Hearst TV's flagship station in Boston. At WCVB, he was Executive Producer of Special Projects, overseeing on-air specials in newscasts and primetime special programs, along with the investigative unit, weekly news series, political coverage, and more. He also led the station’s award-winning '5 On: State of Addiction' campaign.

Over the course of his career, David has been honored with two national Edward R. Murrow awards for Large Market Newscast and News Series, along with several regional Murrow awards. He has been the recipient of New England Emmy awards for investigative, medical, political, and breaking news coverage, as well as National Headliner Awards for investigative journalism, breaking news, and newscast production.

David earned a degree in Mass Media Communications from Plattsburgh State University in New York and an MBA in Marketing from Southern New Hampshire University.

He enjoys travel and aviation and began the process of obtaining his private pilot's license in 2013. He is also a licensed drone operator.
